"I Wish I Didn't See the Lunar Eclipse Last Night" | CLANCYPASTA

"I adjusted the focus to crisp up the view of the moon’s surface. And That's when I saw it—a colossal, grotesque impossibility that defied all logic." In tonight's episode, we read the post of a man who claims to have seen a strange occurrence on the surface of the moon, a bizarre and unnerving creature that shouldn't have been. I hope you all enjoy tonight's horror story, scary tale, creepypasta; whatever you'd like to call it, and have a great night. [00:00:00] A big hello to all of my fellow night owls and sky gazers.

[00:00:14] I've always been a bit of an astronomy enthusiast, but never was one for posting on forums like

[00:00:21] this.

[00:00:22] More of a lurker, you could say.

[00:00:25] But after last night, I decided it was time to come out of my shell.

[00:00:31] It all started when I heard about that upcoming lunar eclipse, where I am who is going to come

[00:00:37] up and be at its full glory around four in the morning, so I decided to set my alarm

[00:00:42] for about three fifty so I could get up in time to really enjoy it.

[00:00:48] I don't have a telescope unfortunately, but I did have a nice pair of military grade

[00:00:54] binoculars lying around for special occasions just like this.

[00:00:59] I was more than excited.

[00:01:04] When my alarm went off, I was practically already running across the room for my binoculars.

[00:01:11] I was so ready I could barely sleep anyways.

[00:01:16] Walking out on the balcony, I took in a deep breath of crisp morning air.

[00:01:22] I usually hated the cold, but tonight I could handle it as I stared up at the beautiful heavens

[00:01:28] above.

[00:01:31] I brought the binoculars up to my eyes.

[00:01:36] As the earth's shadow began to creep across the surface of the moon, it turned in odd

[00:01:42] and haunting shade of deep red.

[00:01:47] Was that supposed to happen?

[00:01:50] I figured probably.

[00:01:52] I adjusted the focus on my set to crisp up the view of the moon's surface, and that's

[00:01:59] when I saw it.

[00:02:03] A colossal, grotesque impossibility that defied all logic.

[00:02:11] I instantly jerked the binoculars off my face and tried to verify with my naked

[00:02:17] eyes, but I couldn't see a thing.

[00:02:22] Bringing the pair of lenses back to my face, I couldn't believe it was still there.

[00:02:29] I felt like I could barely breathe as I absorbed the horror of the scene before me.

[00:02:38] It was, as far as I could tell, a spider.

[00:02:45] If it's not a spider, then fine, but that's the closest thing in my vocabulary to describe

[00:02:51] it.

[00:02:52] I mean, it was just impossible.

[00:02:55] Imagine a spider, the size of a skyscraper, its long spindly legs casting eerie shadows

[00:03:03] on the surface of the moon as it ambled along with a grace that seemed impossible

[00:03:09] with its monstrous size.

[00:03:14] This creature was the color of the deepest, darkest caves, with a sheen that seemed to

[00:03:20] absorb the weak lunar light making it appear as a silhouette against the eclipse-darkened

[00:03:27] moon.

[00:03:30] And if you can even believe it, through those scopes I could even see its eyes.

[00:03:38] Oh god, its eyes.

[00:03:41] They were like glowing red portals to hell, burning with an otherworldly malice that seemed

[00:03:47] to stare right back at me, even through the vastness of space between us and our moon.

[00:03:58] The way it moved was both plainly disturbing, and yet also unnervingly smooth, each leg

[00:04:07] lifting and descending in a deliberate, calculated manner that suggested intelligence.

[00:04:18] I watched frozen in horror as the creature suddenly stopped.

[00:04:25] I felt my breath stop right along with it.

[00:04:29] Then, after a few moments of stillness on the level of a statue, it hurriedly began to burrow

[00:04:38] into the moon's surface just underneath with a jagged, quickened pace that was incredibly

[00:04:44] jarring against the previous smooth motion.

[00:04:50] Its legs moved impossibly quick, digging, clawing, carving a home down in the moon's

[00:04:59] dusty exterior.

[00:05:02] Before too long, the creature had disappeared into the newly carved hole.

[00:05:09] And then, just like those desert sand spiders, it began kicking the sand back up, covering

[00:05:17] and filling in the hole, eventually disappearing from view as if it had never been there

[00:05:24] at all.

[00:05:28] The area where it had dug the hole now looked entirely nondescript.

[00:05:37] The entire event lasted probably about five minutes, but to me it felt like an eternity.

[00:05:47] When the creature vanished, I was left staring at a now seemingly undisturbed part of the

[00:05:54] moon, the eclipse moving on in the most ordinary of ways.

[00:06:02] My hams were trembling and my heart was racing.

[00:06:08] I lowered the binoculars from my eyes trying to process what I had just witnessed.

[00:06:15] Was that real?

[00:06:17] Was it somehow some trick of my tired mind mixed in with some lighting anomaly?

[00:06:24] Or had I truly seen a gigantic spider burrowing its way down below the crust of our moon?

[00:06:36] After standing there, trying to process what I had just witnessed over and over in my

[00:06:42] skull for some time, I suddenly realized what I needed to do.

[00:06:49] Without another moment to waste, I rushed online, scouring astronomy forums, news sites,

[00:06:57] social media, anywhere someone watching the eclipse might have run to.

[00:07:03] But to my shock, there was nothing.

[00:07:08] No panicked reports.

[00:07:10] No blurry photos.

[00:07:12] No mentions of giant lunar spiders anywhere.

[00:07:18] It was as if the only one to witness this bizarre horror was me.

[00:07:27] Now before I make my attempt to tuck this away into the darkest, deepest recesses

[00:07:36] of my mind, I figured I'd reach out here just to make sure and do my due diligence in

[00:07:43] asking the question.

[00:07:46] Did anyone else see that thing?

[00:07:50] Did anyone else watching the lunar eclipse that night see what I just described?

[00:07:57] In some ways, I hope the answer is a resounding no.

[00:08:03] Though I also want any excuse I can have to not think I'm going mad.

[00:08:11] I find that when my mind turns to the moon today, the feelings evoked are a quite different

[00:08:20] experience.

[00:08:23] What once was a symbol of beauty and the unattainable is now mixed and melded with

[00:08:29] the memory of that creature.

[00:08:33] Every crater and shadow on its surface now holds the potential for horrors unknown.

[00:08:41] The night sky I had cherished up until last night no longer feels safe.

[00:08:49] Then again, this all just happened last night so maybe I just need to let the dust settle

[00:08:55] a little.

[00:08:58] But as of right now, the universe has just become a much bigger, darker place and I can't

[00:09:09] seem to shake the feeling that what I saw last night was just the beginning.
