Would you buy an old and retired Animatronic Doll from a garage sale?
That's exactly what the man in tonight's story did. He's an avid collector of toys, plushies, and collectables of all kinds. When he saw a big anthropomorphic dog animatronic looking over 20 years old just sitting in some old man's garage sale, he just had to pick it up. Little did he know the bizarre events that would quickly unfold...

[00:00:00] All right folks, I hope you're settled in because I've got a story that's gonna sound
[00:00:13] like it's straight out of a horror movie.
[00:00:16] But I swear, it's 100% true.
[00:00:22] I've been meaning to share this somewhere and after browsing around this form a while
[00:00:26] it looks like I found the right crowd.
[00:00:30] I'm a garage sale junkie, have been since I was a kid.
[00:00:35] There's something about hunting through other people's stuff and finding hidden gems
[00:00:39] that just feels magical.
[00:00:41] Plus, it's a great way to find killer deals on things that would otherwise drain the
[00:00:46] bank.
[00:00:48] Anyway, last week I'm driving home from work thinking about what I was gonna make for
[00:00:54] dinner that night when I spot this sign.
[00:00:59] Garage sale at, and then enlisted the address.
[00:01:05] Surprisingly, it's right outside my neighborhood.
[00:01:09] On a whim I decide to check it out.
[00:01:14] This sale spread out in the garage all the way to the driveway.
[00:01:18] Nothing too fancy but pretty packed.
[00:01:21] I start digging through the usual suspects.
[00:01:25] Old DVDs, books, some rusty old garden tools, and a tub full of ancient trinkets.
[00:01:33] And then I see it.
[00:01:36] Hidden behind a stack of old board games is this massive animatronic puppy doll.
[00:01:42] We're talking six feet tall, the kind of thing you'd see outside a toy store and a mall
[00:01:47] back in the day.
[00:01:50] The dog looked like it was going for a big golden retriever look, and it wore a big blue
[00:01:55] t-shirt and no pants.
[00:01:58] Now that it needed any, it was a dog after all.
[00:02:03] It was in surprisingly good shape, considering it looks like it was from the 90s.
[00:02:09] Without a second thought, I bought it.
[00:02:12] The price was a steel.
[00:02:15] I'm thinking it'll make a cool, and it'll be a quirky addition to my collection of oddities.
[00:02:23] My place is already overflowing with collectibles.
[00:02:28] So the garage is where this giant puppy ends up until I can reorganize and find a permanent
[00:02:34] home for the thing.
[00:02:36] I set it up in a corner next to an old bug spunny plushie I've had since childhood.
[00:02:42] Now I love that bug stalled.
[00:02:44] It was my all time favorite when I was a little kid, but that plushie has seen better days.
[00:02:52] It's pretty stained and gross, so it's been relegated to the garage for a while now.
[00:03:00] Cut to the next morning.
[00:03:03] I head into the garage to grab something from a little mini-fritch I keep by the door
[00:03:09] and I freeze.
[00:03:13] The bug spunny plushie is torn to shreds.
[00:03:18] I mean, it looks like a wild animal went to town on the thing.
[00:03:25] My heart started beating a mile a minute.
[00:03:29] My first thought was did someone break in?
[00:03:34] When scanning around, the garage is still locked up tight.
[00:03:39] No signs of forced entry whatsoever.
[00:03:45] I'm rattled.
[00:03:47] Very rattled.
[00:03:49] But I was running late for work as it was so I decided to chalk it up to some freak
[00:03:54] accident or a really determined rodent who managed to scurry on back out of the place.
[00:04:03] I go about my day trying to shake off the weirdness.
[00:04:06] It was a bit hard, I'll admit.
[00:04:10] Not used to having that intense of an adrenaline spike that early in the morning.
[00:04:18] So I come back home in the evening and to my horror.
[00:04:24] The garage looks like a scene from a horror movie.
[00:04:30] Every single toy, every doll I had in the garage is destroyed.
[00:04:35] I had probably about 50 in there.
[00:04:39] They were ripped apart, somehow the fluff completely removed and stuffed into random storage
[00:04:44] boxes, leaving the skin of the poor things laying there on the floor in a million pieces.
[00:04:51] And some even looked like they'd been torched.
[00:04:54] Literally, some were charred.
[00:04:58] That was absolute chaos.
[00:05:01] Except for the animatronic puppy, however, it's standing there completely untouched amidst
[00:05:11] the destruction.
[00:05:14] Not a scratch on the thing.
[00:05:17] It looked exactly like it had when I bought it.
[00:05:24] Now, I'm not one to jump to conclusions.
[00:05:31] But the evidence, which largely makes no sense whatsoever, seems to only be explained
[00:05:37] with one possibility.
[00:05:40] And it's pointing to something I can barely admit to myself.
[00:05:46] It's like there's a circuit in my brain refusing to accept the possibility that this animatronic
[00:05:52] canine is somehow, in some way, alive and wreaking havoc in my garage whenever I'm out,
[00:06:02] apparently.
[00:06:04] Specifically, the other stuffed animals.
[00:06:11] I had to get to the bottom of this.
[00:06:16] So after much brain storming, I set up a little experiment.
[00:06:21] I bought a few new plushies and placed one right next to the animatronic, right where
[00:06:26] that poor bug's bunny was.
[00:06:29] And then for two whole nights, I camped out right outside the garage in my house from
[00:06:36] the doorway.
[00:06:38] I was sitting in a little fold-out chair and had coffee, snacks, my phone to listen to
[00:06:44] music on.
[00:06:45] The works.
[00:06:48] So I'm watching this thing like a hawk all night.
[00:06:52] I'm talking a full eight hours here.
[00:06:56] Nothing.
[00:06:57] It doesn't move an inch.
[00:07:00] In my disappointment, it was only outweighed by my utter confusion.
[00:07:07] I decided to hit the hay for a few hours before I had to get up to work.
[00:07:12] And when I went to leave and enter the garage just a few hours later, I found the new plushie
[00:07:19] torn apart, completely destroyed.
[00:07:25] I froze again for a moment but then let out a long sigh.
[00:07:31] At this point, I'm beyond freaked out but also very tired.
[00:07:38] I'm questioning my sanity, wondering if I'm caught up in some twisted episode of the
[00:07:43] twilight zone.
[00:07:45] None of this made any sense.
[00:07:48] Not at all.
[00:07:52] The next night, I decided to set up a camera to roll the entire time to see if it would
[00:07:58] be tempted with another one of the new plushies.
[00:08:02] But unfortunately, on reviewing the footage, it didn't move an inch.
[00:08:10] It knew I was recording.
[00:08:15] Knowing what would have happened if I left it in there, I decided to just remove the plushie.
[00:08:26] That's when the idea hit me.
[00:08:30] It's a wild idea, but at this point I'm quite desperate.
[00:08:37] Very desperate for answers.
[00:08:42] I suddenly remembered this old werewolf costume I had from a few Halloween's back.
[00:08:49] It's pretty convincing for a Halloween costume.
[00:08:52] Old body suit, mask, the works.
[00:08:57] I figured if I'm right about all this and this thing really is alive.
[00:09:04] And if there's a chance this animatronic puppy is only active when it thinks it's alone
[00:09:11] then maybe just maybe.
[00:09:15] If I'm in the costume, it'll overlook me.
[00:09:21] It might think I'm just another one of the dolls.
[00:09:25] As far as I can figure, this is the only way I'll ever figure out for sure if this is
[00:09:32] really happening.
[00:09:37] So here I am.
[00:09:41] All suited up in my werewolf get up about to spend my night in the garage playing the
[00:09:47] world's weirdest game of hide and seek with a seemingly cursed animatronic dog.
[00:09:55] I've got my phone with me at the moment, fully charged.
[00:10:01] And I'm typing this out as my last act before the stakeout begins, then I'll switch it
[00:10:06] to airplane mode and leave it here on the kitchen counter until I return in the morning.
[00:10:15] And I've told a couple of friends what I'm up to, just in case things go south and as
[00:10:21] I expected they think I finally lost it.
[00:10:26] And you know I just went along with it, laughing with them and trying to convince them best
[00:10:31] I can that I'm not a head case but this is all kind of a game.
[00:10:37] And away I think I'm trying to convince myself because this is all just too weird.
[00:10:47] But one thing I know is that this has got to happen.
[00:10:53] I need to know, I need to see this through for myself.
[00:11:02] I just peeked into the garage as I finish up this post.
[00:11:10] The animatronic is right where it's been since I picked it up, but a small little nightlight
[00:11:15] in the corner of the garage earlier so I wouldn't be immersed in complete darkness.
[00:11:22] So I could see if and when the dog moves.
[00:11:29] I will admit I'm a bit nervous, but this is the only way.
[00:11:33] This is the only plan I can come up with.
[00:11:37] Looking at myself in the mirror.
[00:11:40] I really do look like a big doll.
[00:11:44] A big scary doll, but a doll nonetheless.
[00:11:52] I guess there's nothing left to say.
[00:11:55] Perhaps I'm stalling now.
[00:11:58] Well, wish me luck.
[00:12:01] I'll see you all on the other side.
